Terry Morrison devoted 37 years to Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary.
He helped shape trails, build boardwalks, and create programs that brought people closer to nature. What began as a small local project became a thriving community sanctuary.

The Beginning
In 1975, Terry joined a small crew with one goal: to protect and restore the land around Swan Lake. They planted trees, built the first floating boardwalk, and started education programs that helped children understand their connection to the natural world.
He wasn’t chasing recognition. He simply believed that protecting nature meant protecting something essential in all of us.
A Life of Stewardship
For nearly four decades, Terry led the Sanctuary with patience, curiosity, and care. Under his guidance, the team grew, programs expanded, and countless volunteers found a shared purpose in caring for the land.
He often returned to volunteer even after retiring, camera in hand, sharing quiet advice and encouragement. Those who worked with him still talk about his kindness and his steady belief that every small action makes a difference.

The Sanctuary Terry helped build continues to serve the community he loved. Every trail, every class, every birdwatching morning reflects his work.
