Give-a-Sheet! Help replace the Sanctuary's

Outdoor Classroom Today
The 1,040 feet of floating boardwalk is an outdoor classrooms and a naturalist’s tool to ‘Bridge People to Nature. Made of wood in 1991, it has been weathered by forces of nature and has aged beyond repair. It has reached the end of its life. This structure that bridges people to nature will be replaced with aluminum - safe, aesthetic, and guaranteed longevity. The North boardwalk was replaced in June, 2015 after a successful community campaign having raised $350,000. It is essential the remainder of the boardwalk be replaced as soon as possible. It is estimated the replacement cost is $800,000 with that number is rising with every passing year. One sheet of fiber glass decking is approximately $500, one completed section of the boardwalk is approximately $5,000. This has inspired a tongue and cheek campaign entitled “Give-a-$heet’ as $800,000 is required to span the lake, and quite frankly, we hope you do give two hoots about the floating boardwalk campaign.

The Sanctuary is happy to confirm we have commitments from the District of Saanich for $200,000 and Community Spaces has generously donated $75,225, and TD Bank has charitably donated $25,000 to the Give-a-$heet campaign. These amazing community partners all Give-a-$heet. Do You?
