Who Gives a Hoot

Who glides silently, can turn their head almost completely around? Who can cough-up a wicked hairball? Who, who, who... Drop-in anytime as we explore the wonderful world of Owls. Admission by donation.

 


Big and Little Winter/Spring 2012 Sessions (3 - 5 years olds and their adult friends)

(registration starts December 1st)

Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cost: members $12 per program per adult/child pair; $4 for each additional child

Non-members - $17/pair; $6 additional child

These nature adventure classes will explore different nature themes with hands-on discovery, a walk, stories, crafts and more. Register for as many as you like. Pre-register please.

Hummingbird Day

It may seem early to be celebrating hummingbirds, but Anna's Hummingbirds build their nests in February and it won't be too long before the Rufous Hummingbirds return from their winter vacations. Join us as we get humming about these facinating birds.  Admission by donation.

Fossil Fair
Saturday and Sunday, March 24 & 25, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Who lived here from millions of years ago to the Ice Age? Dinosaurs, trilobites, ammonites, clams, sharks, corals and other creatures lived in the ancient seas and palm tree and deciduous forests of Vancouver Island and other areas of British Columbia.
Palaeontologists from the Victoria Palaeontology Society will share their discoveries and ongoing scientific research. Bring your own fossils for identification. Kids could go on scavenger hunt, colour and make fossil and dinosaur rubbings, look at tiny fossils through microscopes, dig for fossils in a sandbox and take one home as a treasure.

Wildflower Weekend

Spring has sprung and Swan Lake and Christmas Hill have never looked better. We celebrate the wonderful world of wildflowers with guided tours of our native plant garden, hikes to Christmas Hill, crafts for the kids and fun, music at the Wildflower Revue.
